    Rihanna Opens Up To Oprah About Life After 'Humiliating' Chris Brown Incident: 'I Was Resentful,' 'Dark'

    Oprah recently traveled to Rihanna's native Barbados to get an up-close view of the pop star's hometown.

    The pair sat down for a no holds barred interview for "Oprah's Next Chapter," where Rihanna opened about the aftermath she experienced following her highly-publicized 2009 beating at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

    "It was embarrassing, it was humiliating," a visibly emotional Rihanna told Oprah in a clip of the interview released on Friday. "I lost my best friend."

    The incident and what followed led the 24-year-old star down a dark path.

    "I was resentful," she said. "I held a grudge, I was dark."

    The "Where Have You Been" singer also opened up her fear of being labeled a role model.

    "I'm super-duper afraid of the pedestal that comes with fame," she said.
