A medical emergency is keeping R. Kelly in Chicago, forcing the singer to postpone his NYC book launch event and cancel appearances on the “Jimmy Fallon Show” and the “Today” show.
“Initial indications are that he is suffering from complications from surgery he had last year to treat an abscess on his vocal cords,” Kelly’s rep told TMZ. The rep further noted, “It is unclear how long Kelly may be sidelined.”
R. Kelly was set to launch his autobiography Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me in NYC tomorrow. This isn’t the first time the R&B star’s book release has been set back. Announced in 2009, the autobiography was set to be published in 2011, but experienced unexplained delays.
The book will touch on the singer’s relationships with fellow rap legends like Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G., as well as the rape and child pornography allegations that nearly destroyed his career in the early 2000′s.
The book’s publication comes on the heels of the release of R. Kelly’s 11th album, “Write Me Back”.
We’re praying for R. Kelly and his silky voice to get better soon!
