How Michelle Williams, Rooney Mara and More Got in Oscar-Nominee Shape

Michelle Williams, Rooney Mara, Glenn Close, Viola Davis and Meryl Streep are the nominees for best actress at this year's Oscars. It's standard to wonder who will win or what they'll be wearing, but we're curious about how these women stay sane and fit during the hectic award season. Find out how these stellar actresses stay healthy, from a one-glass-of-wine maximum to retreating to the mat.

Rooney Mara for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
To transform into her role as Lisbeth Salander in the flick, Mara worked out nonstop and picked up a kickboxing habit in the process.

Michelle Williams for My Week With Marilyn
A regular yoga practice is what keeps Williams grounded and healthy. The star credits yoga for getting her through the pain associated with Heath Ledger's death, which inspired her to help start The Yoga For Single Moms Project. The program provides child care for single mothers, which affords the women time to relax and heal through a regular yoga practice.

    Glenn Close for Albert Nobbs
At 64, Close is as active as most 20-year-olds I know. She told Good Housekeeping that she's a self-described jock, and it's activities like swimming and biking that keep her young -- Glenn even completed a triathlon at the age of 60!

On aging, she has said, "All your life, you think 60 is ancient, and all of a sudden, you find you're 60 and you don't really feel that different. I feel stronger and more engaged. This is the best time of my life."

Meryl Streep for The Iron Lady
By no means a fitness fanatic, Streep keeps everything in moderation when it comes to her diet and exercise regimen. When the star feels the need to slim down, she still allows indulgences but doesn't go overboard —- think one glass of wine, not the whole bottle! She also keeps things in perspective when it comes to aging, telling Good Housekeeping: "You have to embrace getting older. Life is precious, and when you've lost a lot of people, you realize each day is a gift."

    Viola Davis for The Help
Davis isn't very vocal about her fitness regimen, but her sculpted shoulders and arms say it all: she definitely puts time into toning her physique. Looking to tone your upper body? Take this printable arm workout with you the next time you hit the gym.

Rooney Mara better not win. Copying another actress is not something special or hard to do. Watch the original its much much much better.
