Sarandon was honoured with the the Crystal Globe Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema, which she accepted with a tearful tribute to late filmmaker Nora Ephron.
The moment recalled Mirren's appearance on June 29, when she was awarded the same trophy and also honoured Ephron while lamenting the lack of female directors.

Cutting a slightly more demure figure than Sarandon, the 66-year-old star, who won Body of the Year in 2011, sported a form-fitting floor length purple lace Dolce & Gabbana dress for the proceedings.
