Sean Bean is probably best known for using his brute strength and armour to intimidate his foes in "The Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones." But in real life, he's now been accused of using words to harass his ex-wife.
The 53-year-old actor was taken into custody in London on Tuesday after police arrested him on "suspicion of harassment." He allegedly sent multiple hostile text messages and phone calls to his ex, actress Georgina Sutcliffe. He was later released on bail.
Sutcliffe was Bean's fourth wife, and this incident is the latest in a string of scandals in his love life. He didn't divorce his first wife until 1988, a year after his first daughter with his second wife was born. He began dating Sutcliffe in 2006, when she was managing the bar in the West End theatre where he was playing Macbeth. They married in February 2008 at a registry office, a month after their originally planned date. (Bean apparently got cold feet 24 hours before they were supposed to tie the knot.) Reports of domestic abuse followed a few months later.
The police showed up at the couple's $2 million home in Belsize Park again in 2009 because of a heated fight. They divorced in December 2010 over "irreconcilable differences."
Sutcliffe is currently acting in Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap" in London's West End. No other details have been released.
