More than two decades after Patrick Swayze starred in "Ghost," the actor's widow, Lisa Niemi, appeared alone at the premiere for the film's musical adaptation.
The 55-year-old dancer, who was married to Swayze from 1975 until his death from pancreatic cancer in 2009, bravely walked the red carpet for the opening night of "Ghost: The Musical" on Monday.
"My friends told me not to come," she told Celebuzz at the show. "They were scared that I'd start crying through the whole musical and wouldn't make it through. I'm hoping to keep it together."
These days, Swayze's memory is a large part of Niemi's life. In January she released the memoir "Worth Fighting For" about her husband's fight with cancer, and she currently acts as New York's honorary chair and chief Ambassador of Hope of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
"I'm a lucky woman to have had him," Niemi said at the premiere. "We had a great life together."
