Liberty Ross: My husband was ‘gone most of the time’

Rupert Sanders' wife didn't know where the "Snow White and the Hunstman" director was the day he was cheating with leading lady Kristen Stewart, but it turns out that wasn't uncommon in their relationship.

In an interview with U.K.'s You magazine, conducted before the great Hollywood scandal of 2012, model Liberty Ross (who also happens to play Snow White's mom in "SWATH") admitted she often fended for herself after she, Sanders, and their two children moved from England to Los Angeles.

"I would never say out loud that I am raising my children alone, but a lot of the time it has felt like that," the 33-year-old beauty said. "I went from the glamour of working with Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano to living on an isolated hilltop, with my husband gone most of the time."

Ross added that it took five years for her "to feel happy" in their new home. Of course, that was before her hubby was photographed by Us Weekly making out with Stewart on July 17. Stewart issued a public apology soon after and Sanders followed suit.

"I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," he told People in an exclusive statement. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."

In response to the news, Ross tweeted, "wow," as well as a Marilyn Monroe quote that read, "Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." She also posted a photo of Snow White on Instagram with the caption, "Not so pretty or so pure after all," before closing her Twitter account.

In a strange twist of events, Ross was only 17 when she met Sanders 16 years ago. He was her brother's best friend and eight years her senior.

"I didn't propose to her for seven years because I felt that she was too young and she'd resent me if she hadn't lived," Sanders told the U.K. Guardian in June. "She's been very supportive and she's been a strong single mother for the last year-and-a-half, because I haven't been around."
