Robert Rodriguez may be blown away by Lady Gaga's performance in his new film, "Machete Kills," but we were more surprised that the pop star referred to her role as La Chameleon as her acting debut.
"Yes its true, I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing MACHETE KILLS BY @RODRIGUEZ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane," she tweeted on Thursday after Rodriguez unveiled a poster of her glam alter ego.
Hang on just a minute! Haven't we seen Gaga's acting chops before?

What about back in 2010, when vintage footage from season 3 of "The Sopranos" emerged? The video showed the pop star, then known as Stefani Germanotta, laughing it up with A.J. Soprano. Indeed, back in 2001, a 15-year-old Gaga sat on the bleachers with some smoking teens as Tony Soprano's kid and his friends vandalized his school's pool.

But that wasn't Gaga's only foray into acting. Eleven years after her debut in "The Sopranos," Gaga appeared in this year's finale of "The Simpsons" in an episode entitled "Lisa Goes Gaga." The singer visits Springfield and cheers up the townsfolk with a song she created for the episode, "You're All My Little Monsters."
As for her most recent role prior to "Machete Kills," Gaga also landed a cameo in "Men in Black III" (opposite Justin Bieber) this year. Listed as uncredited on IMDB, she appeared on the surveillance board at the Men in Black headquarters with green hair and takes a sip from a cup before seemingly turning into an alien.
Still, "Machete Kills" is definitely Lady Gaga's biggest acting role to date. Congratulations, Gaga!
"Machete Kills" is set for release on June 13, 2013.
