The Duggars are open to more kids despite miscarriage

The Duggars may have tragically lost their 20th child, but that won't dissuade them from having another.

In an interview with the "Today Show" yesterday, the stars of "19 Kids and Counting" admitted they wouldn't mind having another baby to add to their nine daughters and ten sons.

"We would be open to more if God saw fit to bless us with more," Michelle Duggar said.

Jim Bob and his wife found out eight weeks ago that what would have been their 20th child, whom they had planned to name Jubilee Shalom, had died. The moment was caught on camera, and the Duggars decided to keep it for their reality show.

"We thought it was a way to help other families go through difficult situations," Michelle told Access Hollywood on Monday.

The mom of 19 spoke about going for a routine ultrasound and finding out that her baby "had no heartbeat."

    "It's devastating," she said.

But, even if they don't have another baby, the Duggars seem sure they will see their 20th child again.

"We realize our sweet little Jubilee is with the lord and we will see her again some day," Michelle said on "Today."

She's tired and it shows.. In her eyes, and her stature. Whatever they are saying to the public I'm judging is a lie... she is saying what is necessary to make her husband happy!! That miscarriage was a sign telling her body it's had enough! She's tired!

I agree superwoman - she needs to find another purpose

You can bet if horny Jim Bob had to birth just one of those kids, they wouldn't have had 19 kids.

Spare me! GOD! GOD! GOD! please, its you and your husband that are doing this, not GOD! Leave him, or her, out of it. You people need to stop now ok! Read a book! Take up a hobby! Say no once in a while. OK? Now buh-bye!

Let's face it, the parents are not raising the children, the children are raising the children. They almost lost their 19th child, she was sick in the hospital for months. They need to stop getting pregnant and focus on the 19 blessings that they already have.

"We thought it was a way to help other families go through difficult situations,"

Are you kidding me with that statement? Other Families who have miscarriages haven't treated their Vagina's like Clown Cars. How can you even POSSIBLY Relate to a husbadn and Wife who don't have a single child because of Miscarrage, when you've been wontoningly giving birth. Sorry we aren't Cats or Dogs, we weren't meant to give birth to thaat many offspring. Your body is freaking worn out. If you Won't use contraceptives then just please stop having sex. it's jsut freakign rediculous.

God saw fit for her to have how ever many children he sees she can raise as good Christians, and I for one believe she is doing an excellent job, perhaps better than most parents with one child.

I don't think losing a child is any less painful if you have a dozen children or none. It's the loss of a baby you ignorant fool.
      • hannies_momma 2 months ago
Bertenstein, It would be more painful to have none at all, because then you are reminded of what you dont have everytime you see a baby item. I had two miscarriages before my two kids were born, while it was difficult, I believe that it would have been worse if i had the miscarriages and then could have none. Infertility can be just as painful as a miscarriage, because then you are reliving the pain every month when that hated period arrives. So don't be so quick to call someone an ignorant fool when you yourself havent thought out the situation before speaking.

maybe the miscarriage is gods way of saying enough already!!!!

I had a miscarriage too ..... it is not God's way of saying "enough" already.... its sad but miscarriages are natural.

That'd be my thought if I were her. It's time for 'ol Jimbob to go get snipped!

@Crystal J, I don't think Tammy meant that anyone that has had a miscarriage should say enough already. I think she just meant that these people have 19 children as well as grandchildren and should be taking precautions instead of trying to have more children that could very possibly suffer the same fate as child #20 and the others they have lost. It gets to a point where greed takes over and in my personal opinion the Duggars have let that happen. They should be grateful for the children they have and leave it at that. They're not against birth control as they have used it before. I don't think it's right for them to keep going and having more children/miscarriages.

i understand having and welcoming into one's life many children. however, the minute a women turns 40 having children because problematic and as we have seen from child #19 and #20.... I think it is time to count their 19 blessings and start to become more careful.

        I totally agree

They should consider being foster parents instead of having more kids!!!
      • ms 2 months ago
foster kids would be a good idea, but the child will need to be young so it can adapt to there religion.

I don't understand. They decided not to use birth control, because she had a miscarriage while on it. Which is fine, it's her choice. But having made that choice, how does it make sense after having another miscarriage to continue to have kids? Is it not obvious that her body can no longer handle it? If God was telling her that birth control wasn't right for her, is He not now telling her that another child is not right for her?

years ago people had many children and it wasn't a t.v. show. Why are these people on t.v.? I go to church, but these people use God as an excuse for everything. I think the only reason why they are still producing is for more ratings. Miscarriage was also shown to up the ratings. My daughter had a miscarriage and no way would she have wanted a t.v. crew in the room and then to show it to thousands of people. TACKY show Tacky people. Disgrace to religious people.

Seriously? More kids? Why don't they just let their kids have kids, they certainly have enough of them.Time to stop becoming parents and switch over to being grandparents!
    • noname  •  Calgary, Alberta  •  2 months ago
If they are so religious why are they using their children to make money off this show? God also gave us this thing called a cerebral cortex which allows us to make conscious and responsible decisions.

Instead of having more kids, why don't the Duggars adopt kids that nobody wants???? I'm sure God would approve.

They obviously think they are so important and special, they don't consider that they are helping to overpopulate the world. Imagine if we all thought that way and had 20 kids per family??!!
