Costume designer Chris March critiques Scarlett, Snooki, and more

"Project Runway" fans know Chris March as the bighearted, nap-loving contestant and costume designer with the distinctive hyena cackle. March, beloved for his dramatic and over-the-top designs, is starring in his own reality series, "Mad Fashion," premiering next Tuesday on Bravo. The show follows March and his creative team of costumers as they collaborate on one-of-a-kind ensembles for persnickety clientele.

March, who's dressed the likes of Lady Gaga in his avant-garde attire, counts many a celebrity among his client base. We could not resist getting his opinion on some fresh-off-the-red-carpet photos. Behold!

Lea Michele and Snooki: "If you take the picture of Lea Michele as the Before and Snooki as the After, it's like what happens to you after you're on 'Jersey Shore.' Lea Michele looks sweet, pretty and is wearing this sweet little darling beige dress. And then all of a sudden it turns into Snooki! [hyena laugh]."

"I kind of admire Snooki for being who she is. She's kind of trashy, and she knows it. She loves it. She doesn't care. She doesn't claim to be anything else."

Scarlett Johansson: "When I first saw that photo I thought it was Debra Messing! At least, you know, you can see she has clothes on in this picture. It's OK. It's a little short. ... It makes her head look giant, for some reason. Like, the proportion isn't quite right for her. That's one of the most important things about clothing is proportion. And you have to learn how to dress a certain body type a certain way to make all the proportions work together. This makes parts of her look too small, and parts of her look too big."

Nicki Minaj: "Straight out of 'Toddlers and Tiaras.' ... If this is her kind of thing, she does it great. And she owns it. It's not like she's letting that out to wear her. She's doing it."

Anna and Fergie. (Jacopo Raule/Getty Images, Isaac Brekken/Getty Images)

Anna Wintour: "It looks like a really bad watercolor painting. She has access to every amazing piece of clothing on earth. This is what she picked?"

Fergie: "The rubber skirt and the yellow sweater -- I don't know. She's going for, like, naughty secretary here. ... For a rock 'n' roll event [the IHeartRadio Music Festival], it's kind of not in the right attitude."

March has attitude to spare. But he's also exceedingly nice. Should be an interesting season of "Mad Fashion."
