Celebrities read mean tweets about themselves (VIDEO)

    "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

"[Insert celebrity name here] has millions of followers, they'll never see my tweet!" That's usually the thought process before letting loose 140 nasty characters about a celebrity, whether they're describing an unfortunate wardrobe choice or why they don't deserve their success and fame.

But not all of those tweets are going unnoticed. Jimmy Kimmel, nice guy that he is, forced several of his celebrity guests to read some of the offending tweets -- and made sure he got their reactions on camera.

In a short video for "Jimmy Kimmel Live," celebs such as Kristen Stewart, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Snooki, and James Van Der Beek each read a malicious tweet aimed at them, which Kimmel hopes will both amuse us and allow mean tweeters to see the harmful effects of their actions.

Some celebs, like Perry, seem downright heartbroken. Some are indignant (Zooey Deschanel responds to the accusation that she's overrated: "Actually I think I'm underrated"), and some pleasantly annoyed (Matt Leblanc). Bieber definitely wins  points for worst death stare!

Will Kimmel's video bring an end to all those snide, vile, and rotten tweets? Will the Twitterverse become a utopia of love, admiration, and respect?

In short: Probably not. But Kimmel still achieved half his goal: It sure is funny.
