"I just thought I would work in a hair salon and do community theater," the 38-year-old "Mad Men" actress reveals to Lucky Magazine.

After working as a model in NYC, Hendricks decided to go for it, and now stars in the critically acclaimed TV show, in addition to movies, such as the 2014 thriller "How to Catch a Monster," written and directed by her "Drive" co-star Ryan Gosling. Lucky girl!

Hendricks, who married "(500) Days of Summer" actor Geoffrey Arend in October 2009, acknowledges that Gosling is "handsome." However, she says his appeal is deeper.

Just a day after news broke that her ex, Marc Anthony, dropped $2.5 million on a 6,000-square-foot Los Angeles-area mansion, Jennifer Lopez has one-upped her former husband, making news for plunking down four times that amount for a whopper of an estate in the Hamptons.

Getty ImagesA source tells the New York Post that the 43-year-old songstress; her much-younger beau, 24-year-old choreographer Casper Smart; and her 5-year-old twins, Max and Emme, visited the mega-property several times recently, and Lopez has finally decided to take the plunge and buy the property, which is located in Bridgehampton, New York, near Mecox Bay. The Post reports the place previously rented during a three-month summer period for a breathtaking $425,000. It was listed for sale at $9.95 million.

According to the listing, provided to omg! by real estate website Zillow, the custom home (built nine years ago) provides something that’s probably pretty important to J.Lo: privacy, touting that it’s "guaranteed" thanks to a "private cul de sac." The eight-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bath manse – spread over 8,500 square feet on three acres – also features a theater, sauna, steam room pool, pool house, and two adjacent lots just perfect for building a guest house and tennis court. The listing also includes two words the rest of us probably don’t associate with a $10 million home: "Incredible value."

Vogue magazine kept in line with that philosophy on Monday as it hosted a swanky Los Angeles dinner party for the "Star Trek" cast held on the secluded outdoor patio of West Hollywood's Chateau Marmont.

Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, and Alice Eve -- the pretty young things starring in J.J. Abrams's rebooted "Trek" franchise -- attended the Monday soiree hosted with MAC Cosmetics in celebration of designer Prabal Gurung.

Other bold names such as Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson, "Homeland" beauty Morena Baccarin, Rachel Zoe, Liberty Ross, Emma Roberts, Dita Von Teese, and Cody Horn were also in attendance.

Angelina Jolie made the brave decision to undergo a preventive double mastectomy after learning she carried the BRCA1 gene that made it extremely likely (an 87% chance) that she would get breast cancer or (a 50% chance) ovarian cancer.

Jolie, 37, was very close with her mother Marcheline Bertrand, who passed away at the age of 56 after losing her seven-year battle with ovarian cancer.

"She held out long enough to meet the first of her grandchildren and to hold them in her arms,” Jolie wrote Tuesday in an op-ed for the New York Times: “But my other children will never have the chance to know her and experience how loving and gracious she was."

Bertrand lived long enough to meet the eldest three of Jolie and her fiancé Brad Pitt's six children -- Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh.

Aside from Pitt and the kids they share together, Jolie’s mother was the most important person and influence in her life. Jolie was estranged from her father, actor Jon Voight, for many years after he and Bertrand divorced in 1978. "She raised me," Jolie has said. Bertrand dabbled in acting, but she gave it all up to raise her two children, and it’s clear that Jolie admired her mother’s strength as a single parent.

Bertrand was a very private person, so Jolie would visit her all the time at her apartment in Beverly Hills, California. When speaking publicly, though, Jolie couldn’t help but praise

Monday evening, Angelina Jolie, 37, came forward in an op-ed piece in the New York Times about having a gene that increases her chances of developing breast cancer by 87 percent, and her choice to have a double mastectomy. Tuesday morning, her fiancé Brad Pitt gave her a very public round of applause.

"Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie's choice, as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic," he told the London Evening Standard. "I thank our medical team for their care and focus."

Furthermore, the 49-year-old actor feels the decision is a positive one, especially given the impetus for it, which Jolie explained as so her six children "don't need to fear they will lose me."
