When Gemini Award-winning comedian Daryn Jones joined MTV Canada in 2006, he was a natural voice for the young network. But after six years, Jones is leaving the network for new prospects.
"Daryn's been with us for six years, and it's been a great adventure," said an MTV Canada spokeswoman. "He's one in a million and we wish him well. We know he is looking forward to new things, which I'm sure he'll share when he's ready."
The 34-year-old native of Victoria, B.C., has been a constant face on "MTV Live," the station's interactive talk-show flagship program, throughout its duration. Jones gained plenty of fans for his ability to banter with his female co-host (currently Nicole Holness) and to terrorize Paul "the Intern" Lemieux. Previous hosts, like Dan Levy (son of Eugene) and Jessi Cruikshank, are currently living in Los Angeles.
Neither Jones nor MTV has announced what's next for MTV Live, or what Jones has up his sleeve for his next project. Regardless, we're sure his last episode (taking place Wednesday night) will mix in a few tears with the laughs.
