We know Avril Lavigne has been married before, but what about Chad Kroeger?
In case you live under a rock, the two Canadian musicians have just announced their engagement, and the spotlight is now on the Nickelback frontman who has never been very forthcoming about his relationships. Most of us didn't even know he and Lavigne were dating. And, it turns out, their marriage will be Kroeger's first.
Though the 37-year-old "Bottoms Up" singer was previously in a common-law relationship with Canadian girlfriend Marianne Goriuk, they never officially tied the knot. A month before Lavigne filed for divorce in October 2009 from Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley after three years of marriage, Kroeger and Goriuk split after almost seven years together.

In 2002, Goriuk owned a hair salon in Alberta when she met Kroeger at a Nickelback concert and started living with him in Abbotsford, B.C. In May 2012, Kroeger was ordered to pay Goriuk a whopping $25,000 a month in spousal support.

Though it has never been confirmed, Kroeger reportedly started dating Kristen Dewitt soon after his big break up. In fact, they were seen together as recently as April 2012, when he escorted the mystery blonde to the Face the World gala in B.C.
At that point, Lavigne and Kroeger were reportedly two months into their courtship. After Lavigne split from "Hills" star Brody Jenner in January, she and Kroeger allegedly began dating a month later after co-writing a song for Lavigne's fifth album.

HELLO! Canada nabbed the first interview with the newly engaged couple, who appear cuddling on the cover of the magazine's Sept. 10 issue, Lavigne flashing her massive diamond rock for the cameras.
"He makes me laugh every day," Lavigne said. "He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive."
Meanwhile, Kroeger offered a window into how they first got together in February.
"I knew I was falling for her," he said. "It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget."
