Justin Bieber may have legions of screaming fans around the world, but Canadians have said they would prefer to travel the world with someone a little more down to earth - Timmins's own country sweetheart, Shania Twain.
In the first cross-Canada travel survey done by Travelocity.ca, reaching 1,234 Canadians, nearly one-fifth of respondents (that's 17%) said they would love to travel with the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" singer. She even beat out the self-help queen, Oprah, with 9% saying they would travel with the OWN superstar. A trip with Winfrey would probably involve less hockey games and much more crying than Twain's, but imagine the announcement as you arrived at your destination! "Hello world, we are HEEERRRREEE!"
But if this were a Quebec-only survey, there would be a totally different winner. Celine Dion scored 26% of the vote in La Belle Provence, but only 8% nationwide. Fellow Canuck Ryan Gosling (7%) followed close behind, and George Stroumboulopoulos and Taylor Swift tied to round up the Top 5. Sadly, Justin Bieber only managed to grab 1% of the popular vote. We guess he is doomed to travel the world all alone. (At least he has his cute girlfriend, Selena Gomez, by his side).
Seeing as 22% chose Mexico or the Caribbean as their trip destination, we're imagining that the typical dream Canadian vacation would entail hockey jersey-printed bathing suits, a reggae cover of "Come On Over," and maple-flavoured margaritas. Which, actually, sounds like a pretty good time.
