Holden Nowell is Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" video.
Would Carly Rae Jepsen still ask Holden Nowell to call her if she knew about his rap career?
Yes, that gorgeous, shirtless, lawn-mowing man in the Canadian singer's "Call Me Maybe" music video happens to be a wannabe rapper who goes by the stage name H da 6-Trey.
BuzzFeed made the discovery after finding the Vancouver native's ReverbNation page, which includes songs like "Hoes Gon' Be Hoes" and "Hip Hop Save My Life," not to mention Abstrakt's video "GreenLife Freestyle" music video, in which Nowell appears as one of three rappers.
(Nowell starts rapping at the 2:10 minute mark)
Nowell's Twitter page describes him as an actor and model, and the page is wallpapered with a beauty shot of the man himself as we know him: shirtless and jean-clad, sporting several tattoos. From his tweets, we glean that he does in fact have a girlfriend (sorry, ladies), he doesn't appear to much like wearing a top, and he really likes "Entourage."
Nowell caught our attention back in March when he appeared as the gay object of Jepsen's affection in the music video for her hit song "Call Me Maybe." Peterborough-bred director Ben Knechtel revealed back in May that he didn't want to produce a "cookie-cutter pop video."
"I wanted a twist at the end, a spin on the classic boy-meets-girl story, and thought it would be good to have him be gay," he told the Peterborough Examiner. "I thought it was funny how all her efforts to get his attention go to waste at the end."
