Avril Lavigne has completed her transformation into Skrillex.
The newly engaged and newly shaved pop star and designer appeared at her Abbey Dawn fashion show in New York on Monday looking like the spitting image of the shaven-haired DJ, complete with black-rimmed glasses. The only difference? Lavigne's half-head of hair is shot through with pink and green highlights while Skrillex's remains a more conservative pitch black.
"Tonight I got a little wild with my hair dye in my hotel room," Lavigne told Us Weekly. "I've always dyed my hair and had fun with pinks and greens, but this evening I was celebrating Fashion Week, here in New York, and the fact that I'm having a runway show, which is a major deal for me and means a lot."
The 27-year-old "What the Hell" singer debuted her newly half-shaved head back in June while promoting her clothing line in Paris. At the time her look was already likened to Skrillex's trademark 'do.
So who exactly is Skrillex? The guy whose phone number you may already have and who appeared on the "Spring Breakers" red carpet at TIFF last week, is a 24-year-old Grammy Award-winning electronic music producer. He appears to have acquired his now-famous look sometime after August 2009 (way before Ke$ha got on the bandwagon -- at that time he was still using his birth name Sonny Moore, sporting a full head of hair and no glasses.
He first appeared as the Skrillex we know him today in March 2011 at the mtvU Woodie Awards in Texas, though he had started using the name in 2008 and released "My Name is Skrillex" in June 2010.
What do you think of Lavigne's copycat look?
