Remember when we thought we were geniuses by adding a dress over our jeans in the 1990s? Come on, admit it. There's no need to be embarrassed. But as it turns out, like most geniuses, we were just ahead of our time.
Since becoming an overnight household name at the age of nine in the "Harry Potter" movies, 22-year-old British actress Emma Watson has really come into her own lately with her unique, mature, and modern fashion sense. But at the Wednesday night screening of her new film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" in London, her all-black Dior dress-over-pants outfit choice (not to mention the heart Tiffany & Co. pendant necklace) hit us with a hurricane of nostalgia.
But even though this look first became popular back in the '90s, Watson doesn't look one bit dated on the red carpet. Her curly, pinned back hair and simple red lips are the definition of classy. And it's not like most of us got to wear stunning Dior strapless cocktail dresses and a pair black pointy stilettos while trying the trend ourselves more than ten years ago.
The reactions to Watson's have been mixed; some are perplexed by the weird combination, and others admire of her brave fashion choices. Whether you like the outfit or not, you can't deny that Watson looks confident and beautiful, and she might be the only one of Hollywood's biggest rising stars that could turn a '90s trend into high fashion in 2012.
