The first day at a new school can be nerve-wracking for anyone, even without crowds of paparazzi waiting to snap your picture as you enter the building.
That's just what happened when Katie Holmes dropped off six-year-old Suri Cruise on her first day at Avenues -- a brand new, super-posh private school in New York City's Chelsea neighbourhood. (Though there was a possibility that Tom Cruise and Holmes would make nice in order to both be there for Suri's big day, the "Mission: Impossible" star was nowhere to be seen for Monday's orientation or Tuesday's first day of classes.) And since Suri is one of the most photographed kids in the world, the paparazzi might stake out a permanent spot on Avenues's steps — which is exactly what the the parents of Suri's new peers are worried about.

Dana Hadad, the education consultant of the $40,000-per-year school, told Page Six, "I had two different parents call to tell me their children are beautiful young girls that look like Suri. The girls will all be in uniforms, and they're worried their daughters will be mistaken for Suri by the paparazzi outside the school."
But, according to People magazine, that reportedly didn't stop other parents from snapping pictures of the famous mother-daughter duo as they said goodbye.

The first day of school is always exciting, but every year, the excitement dies down and life returns to the normal school-daily grind. We suspect the paparazzi will tire of hanging around Avenues for Suri and Katie - until Tom's the one dropping her off.
