    • Hilary Duff and Luca share a royally sweet moment

      Hilary Duff and Luca (PacificCoastNews.com)

"Put your head on my shoulder..."

Seeing Hilary Duff enjoying a walk/snuggle with her son Luca is simply music to our ears. The new mom and her 5-month-old denim-clad little one were an example of pure bliss Thursday while out and about in Santa Monica, California. The 24-year-old mom, who will forever be remembered as Lizzie McGuire, positioned her wide-eyed tot on her shoulder as she strolled. Her friend pushed Luca's baby carriage, which was filled with shopping bags — a clear sign of a successful day of retail therapy.

Duff's oversize Louis Vuitton acted as a purse/baby bag and was filled to the brim with goodies for both her and him, including a pacifier and Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether. The latter is likely an essential as just last week Duff tweeted that the baby is officially teething. "Luca is cutting a tooth!!! It's the cutest/saddest (because it hurts) getting so big my boy!!" she wrote.

    • Tom Cruise hit the London club where his son was DJing on Thursday. (Splash News)

Yes, Tom Cruise was spotted at trendy London nightclub Chinawhite Thursday night. But it's not because the newly divorced "Mission Impossible" star is suddenly looking to party and meet new ladies. Actually, he hit up the hot spot because he's a good dad!

Connor Cruise's next stop is a gig in Zurich. (Splash News)

Cruise's only son, Connor, an up-and-coming DJ, was tapped to spin some tunes at the club, so Papa Tom showed up to watch … and listen. The 17-year-old (who Cruise adopted with second wife Nicole Kidman) has been getting plenty of DJ experience in the States, working gigs last month at a Comic-Con party in San Diego and a fashion event in New York, but this was his first time working across the pond.

The evening turned into a family affair with Connor's sister, 19-year-old Isabella, also coming out to support her brother. According to reports, Cruise instructed staffers to make sure no alcohol made its way in or around the DJ booth since the legal drinking age in England is 18, a year older than Connor.

    • Alanis Morissette with her husband and son (PacificCoastNews.com)

Alanis Morissette is the latest celebrity mom to reveal her struggle with postpartum depression.

When the 38-year-old singer welcomed son Ever in 2011, the new mom summed up her baby's arrival with one word: "amazing." And while she has embraced motherhood, gushing that she was "moved beyond words" about the new chapter in her life and "so in love with my nuclear family," at times it has been difficult.

In a new interview, Morissette said she couldn't shake a lingering bout of depression after Ever's birth. "I just thought it was a swampy chapter, if I soldiered it out, that it would go away," Morissette, who is married to rapper Mario "Souleye" Treadway, told ET Canada. "I came to realize that the longer I waited, the more intense it would become."

Morissette went into a little more detail with the British magazine You. "The degree and intensity of my postnatal depression shocked me," she said.. "I am predisposed to depression, but what surprised me this time was the physical pain. I hadn't realized the depths to which you can ache: limbs, back, torso, head, everything hurt — and it went on for 15 months. I felt as if I was covered in tar and everything took 50 times more effort than normal. I wished I could have cried but there was no relief during that time; my version of depression is almost below crying where there is just despondency. ... I had various therapies and now I feel all light and springy. Thankfully, it didn't interfere with the bond with my son, although I think that has strengthened since I got better in April."

    • Debra Messing’s new life as a single mom

Debra Messing at the Post-it Your Words Stick With Them launch on August 22

Though Debra Messing's family dynamic has changed in the last year — she's now a single parent — the bond she shares with her son, Roman, has not been altered. The actress, best known for her role as Grace Adler on "Will & Grace," has been enjoying a fun-filled summer in Manhattan with the 8-year-old, who is also a frequent visitor on the set of his mom's latest project, the musical TV series "Smash."

The 44-year-old actress, who is in the process of divorcing TV producer Daniel Zelman, was born in Brooklyn but moved with her family to Rhode Island as a young girl. When it later came time for grad school, Messing returned to the Big Apple. Now her son is getting to experience life as a city kid while she shoots the NBC series, which is about the behind-the-scenes drama on the set of a Broadway musical, in Manhattan. "We see Broadway plays often," Messing tells omg!. "He loved 'Newsies,' that was the most recent one. He also loved 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Mary Poppins.'" Their other favorite things to do together in the city? "We spend a lot of time in Central Park, just playing outside and walking. He also likes ice cream, so we'll make little trips to the ice cream store." No doubt, some of those ice cream dates involve Mariska Hargitay's 6-year-old son August. "Her son and my son are like brothers. They're very close," reveals Messing, who calls the "Law & Order: SVU" star "my best girl."

Earlier this week, Messing's new "Smash" co-star Jennifer Hudson was seen on the set with her young son, and Messing notes Roman is often a visitor as well. "Especially now because school hasn't begun yet and he just finished day camp, he is able to come. He's been on a set since he was 4 months old, so it's like a second home to him. Now we're in our second year, so Christian Borle is like Uncle Christian to him and [he's close with] Jack Davenport," says Messing, who is dating her "Smash" co-star Will Chase. "He also got to hug Jennifer Hudson. I have a picture of him with her. It's fun having him there."

    • Witherspoon. (Splash News)

Reese Witherspoon isn't due until early September, but it looks like she may pop a little ahead of schedule. The "This is War" actress was admitted into a Los Angeles-area hospital not once, but twice in less than 24 hours with symptoms that seemed like she was set to give birth, reports Radar Online.

The 36-year-old, who is expecting her third child (and her first with husband Jim Toth), "was taken to the hospital on Tuesday night with complications," a source told the site on Wednesday. "She was released that night and then rushed back to the hospital today. At this point it looks like she might have the baby … Reese and Jim are a little worried about having the baby so early. But it's close enough to her due date that they're confident the baby will be just fine."

    • Angelina and Vivienne. (Splash News)

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is following in her mom and dad's famous footsteps. The 4-year-old has been cast in Angelina Jolie's upcoming fairy tale flick, "Maleficent," as the younger version of Princess Aurora, Disney has confirmed. Elle Fanning plays the grownup "Sleeping Beauty" princess in the movie, which focuses on the villainous queen and how she got to become so evil.

The little girl and her twin brother Knox were spotted on the Buckinghamshire, England, set back in June, watching their Oscar-winning mother as she filmed a scene decked out in a long cape, facial prosthetics, and with giant horns coming out of her head.

"It's a really great script and I'm having a lot of fun," Jolie said in March of the Disney movie. "My kids are very happy." And so is the actress. The iconic fairytale "is not anti-princess, but it's the first time they're looking at this epic woman [in a different way]," she explained. "I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn't mean she can't have other [warmer] qualities. You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is."

    • Jennifer Hudson’s son is a ‘Smash’ on the set

Jennifer Hudson and her son on the set of "Smash" (Splash News)

Monday was Take Your Child to Work Day for Jennifer Hudson. The actress-singer has been shooting a guest-starring role on "Smash" and brought her son along with her to the New York City set.

A "Sesame Street" fan, David Otunga Jr. had on yummy little Cookie Monster shoes for his visit. The 3-year old stuck close to his mom, who sported stirrup pants and an oversized sweater on the cool summer day. David's love of the Muppets seems to be a recurring theme: Days earlier, he wore a Cookie Monster shirt while out with a babysitter.

On Tuesday, Hudson was back at work again — this time sans David. The Weight Watchers spokesperson, who has lost more than 80 pounds, had on a much skimpier outfit, too. Dressed in a short nightgown and hot pink robe, the 30-year-old playfully waved to photographers as she walked down the block in the sleepwear.

Enter to win a trip and tickets to the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas!

Hudson will appear in several episodes of musical series when it returns to the tube in January. She will play Tony-Award winning Broadway actress Veronica Moore in the NBC show, which also stars Katherine McPhee, Megan Hilty, and Debra Messing. In a teaser clip for Season 2, Hudson has a scene in which she tells McPhee's character, Karen, "Someone's always waiting to take you down, honey."

    • Suri Cruise learns how to ride a bike in the Big Apple

Suri Cruise and Katie Holmes on Aug. 18 (Splash News)

      Suri is officially cruising!

Ever since Katie Holmes pulled the plug on her marriage to Tom Cruise in June, her single mom strategy has been to ensure that her daughter Suri experiences as normal a childhood as possible. Her latest effort? Teaching the 6-year-old how to ride a bicycle in busy Manhattan.

      Splash News

On Saturday, the 33-year-old actress-designer brought Suri to the bustling West Side Highway bike path to teach her the basics of pedal pushing on a set of wheels that would be a dream machine for any little girl. The hot pink bike, equip with training wheels for now, features streamers hanging from the handlebars and a basket — decorated with roses — to carry her favorite plush toy, Little G the giraffe.

      Splash News

And, no, the mini fashionista did not sport any spandex for her bike ride. Suri, who has blogs devoted to her wardrobe, wore a polka dot sweatshirt dress paired with red flats. She also had on a pink helmet because, ya know, safety first.

Interestingly enough, Holmes picked a rather busy location to give Suri her lesson. As most New Yorkers know, on the weekends, the West Side Highway bike path is flooded with riders, including very experienced ones who race by at high speeds. But Suri didn't seem unnerved by the many cyclists and runners, perhaps because it's an area she's very familiar with. The little girl attends gymnastic class at Chelsea Piers, a hulking sports and entertainment complex, which she cruised by during her ride.

    • Uma and daughter. (Splash News)

Forget a magazine spread or Twitpic — Uma Thurman showed the world her adorable newborn daughter by just stepping outside with her. On Friday, the "Smash" actress cradled the little one — whose name is not yet publicly known — in her arms as they exited a New York City building following a doctor's appointment. Not much else is known about the sleeping beauty, who was born on July 15.

This is the first child for Thurman, 42, and her boyfriend Arpad Busson, 49, who both have two children from previous relationships. The actress has daughter Maya, 13, and son Levon, 10, with ex-husband Ethan Hawke, and the financier shares sons Flynn, 14, and Cy, 9, with supermodel Elle MacPherson.

Thurman and Busson called off their engagement in 2009 after two years together, but rekindled the flame in 2011 — only to get pregnant soon after. Although the news was a surprise, a source told Us Weekly at the time, "she's over the moon about it. Very excited."
