    • Look at this photo from when Lance Bass took Danielle Fishel to prom

      Be still our ever-nostalgic-for-the-1990s hearts!

The fact that Danielle Fishel, star of “Boy Meets World,” used to date Lance Bass, a member of ’N Sync, seems to have gotten lost as celebritydom continued and other teen stars took their place in the aughties, and Nick Jonas became the new Aaron Carter, and Harry Styles became the new Nick Jonas. But bless the Twitter feeds of the former lovebirds Fishel and Bass, now 31 and 33 respectively, for sending us all a reminder of good times almost 14 years ago.

“A lot of people in disbelief that @LanceBass and I went to prom together. He asked me with 12 roses and a cute note! #awesomedate,” Fishel tweeted out, before posting their prom date photo.

Bass had recently posted the same picture to Twitter to promote the prom-themed episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” bringing everyone’s attention to his 90s-era look. “Gotta love my platinum

    • Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA is the world’s coolest Grade 9 science teacher

GZA (WireImage)Who knew that GZA wasn’t kidding around when he wrote his 1991 debut album “Words from the Genius”? The iconic rapper, famous for co-founding the hip hop group the Wu-Tang Clan, is thriving in a side career as a high school teacher.

According to a CBS news story, 46-year-old GZA, aka Gary Grice, has teamed up with Dr. Chris Emdin from Columbia University's Teachers College to use hip hop to teach science and math to teenage students. In the particular class featured in the news story, students in Ms. McDaniel's science class in a New York high school are learning the reproductive system by writing raps and performing them to each other.

"The goal is just to awaken the children, make them more aware and embrace science and everything connected to it," GZA said. GZA is apparently a vocal science and space enthusiast who was once a guest on StarTalk with renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who dropped out of school in the tenth grade. GZA and deGrasse Tyson are also reportedly

    • Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder visit teenage fan in Toronto hospital

A patient at Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital, 14-year-old Kayla Baker, got three special visitors this past weekend. One, of course, was the Easter Bunny. The other two were the stars of one of her favourite TV shows, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder from “The Vampire Diaries.”

Baker was admitted into Sick Kids on March 13 with pulmonary fibrosis, with which she was diagnosed at the age of 11. The Cambridge, Ontario native has been on the donor list for a double lung transplant for two years, and has been active in the promotion organ donation all the while. Dobrev and Somerhalder, who are TV costars and a real life couple, heard about Baker’s plight and posted a video message last Thursday to Dobrev’s WhoSay account.

“We’re on The Vampire Diaries, and we know that you watch the show. And we know about you, too! We’ve been following you,” Dobrev says.

“You’re such a fighter,” Somerhalder adds. “So we just wanted to make sure that your schedule’s clear on Saturday,

    • Twitter has led to celebrity fandemonium the likes of which we previously could never have fathomed. So it was that a strange case of mistaken identity led to a fan-crush-quadrangle involving Drake, Drake Bell, Amanda Bynes, and Rosie O’Donnell, all through the revealing medium of 140-character messages sent out into the Internet.

It all started when O’Donnell posted this seemingly straightforward message to Twitter last Tuesday:

Drake, the Toronto-born rapper (this distinction is important), didn’t see Rosie’s message until Friday, when he retweeted it and posted his reaction.

What we know so far: Rosie is appreciative of a man named Drake’s time spent at the gym, working on his fitness.

Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany speaks at an "Orphan Black" panel discussion. (Getty Images)The new Space original series series “Orphan Black” features a large cast of smart, beautiful, and tough young women – but the cast list names just one headliner, Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany.

The sci-fi series has 27-year-old Maslany play a series of clones as they try to discover the secret to their identity, and premieres this Saturday, March 30.

It’s a challenging role that has critics predicting major stardom for this starlet from Regina, Saskatchewan. But if you don’t know much about this new face, formerly seen on CBC series like “Being Erica,” “Heartland,” and “Instant Star,” then here’s a good place to start.

      • She started young. She has been acting and dancing since she was nine years old, and told The Globe and Mail “I was the kid who would force my parents to sit down and watch me dance to Jesus Christ Superstar in the living room night after night.”
      • She can do serious, but she also has a highly trained funnybone. She participated in the Canadian Improv Games during high

    • Jim Carrey under fire for music video that mocks gun owners

He’s not wearing a pair of giant plastic feet or tiny angel wings, but Canadian comedian Jim Carrey seems to be continuing his “awkward spiritual journey” in another costume.

Cold Dead Hand,” a satirical video posted to Funny or Die website on Monday, exposes Carrey’s personal anti-gun views, and he’s now under fire for it.

The video spoofs the vintage sketch show “Hee Haw.” In the spoof, 51-year-old Carrey takes the role of famous gun advocate Charlton Heston, who opens the skit with a brief interaction with the show’s host.

“Who would be laughing if it weren’t for the patriots who answered the call of freedom?” Carrey mugged through gritted teeth while wearing a military uniform. “Aliens. They will exploit our every weakness and suck the brains out of every living soul.”

Jim Carrey in a spoof videoNext, Carrey takes the form of a cowboy frontman of the band Lonesome Earl and the Clutterbusters, backed by musicians dressed as Ghandi, John Lennon and Abraham Lincoln.

    • The Family Photo. (Photo: Daxtumbler.tumblr.com)Known for getting his start in the entertainment industry as an actor on Ashton Kutcher’s celebrity hidden camera series “Punk’d,” Dax Shepard isn’t the first guy we’d peg as the sweet, sensitive type.

But a recent blog post (only his fourth post ever on his blog “Don’t Try”) shows a completely different side to the 38-year-old comedian, writer, and director.

Titled “My Father’s Horniness” (okay, he hasn’t totally broken his funnybone), the blog post recounts the final days of Shepard’s father, Dave Robert Shepard Sr., who died on December 31, 2012 of cancer at 62 years old in Detroit, Michigan.

Their relationship wasn’t close, Dave Sr. was an alcoholic and “a selfish asshole” according to Dax, but in his last months they patched things up with trips to the movies, restaurants, and tours of their old homes.

“It became one of the more beautiful experiences of my life,” Dax wrote.

Dax noticed things were worse when he returned home right before Christmas, when he could no longer

    • Donnie Wahlberg, Nick Carter weigh in on Justin Bieber’s rough few weeks

      Getty Images

At the ripe old age of 19, Justin Bieber seems to be experiencing signs of old age – for a pop star, that is. And according to those who have experienced it before him, teen popstardom can be a rough road.

"Justin Bieber's making mistakes that everyone makes and he's probably trying things and exploring things that most kids his age explore, but the problem is he's got 50 paparazzi chasing him around when he does it," 43-year-old Donnie Wahlberg told the Associated Press this week. Wahlberg was only 14 when New Kids on the Block formed in the mid-1980s, the same age Bieber was when he was discovered by Usher and his manager Scooter Braun.

Wahlberg continued: "When we are 19 and 20, we think we can take on the world and we do forget that there is a lot of life left to live in front of us, and hopefully he'll get through these times and find his way into a long career and a healthy adulthood."

Get your tissues ready, because it's time for a tearjerker of a story from former “Star Trek: The Next Generation” actor Wil Wheaton.

Wheaton, 40, is best known as Wesley Crusher on “TNG,” and as a result, he’s a very popular attraction at numerous sci-fi conventions around the world.

“Appearing as a guest at a big convention like MegaCon is a lot of fun, but it’s also exhausting,” Wheaton wrote in a note he posted to his Facebook page on Tuesday, after attending the latest convention in Orlando, Fla. “People always ask me if my arm or hand or wrist is tired near the end of a long day of signing, and I always tell them the truth: my body never gets tired; it’s my brain that is exhausted.”

Wheaton went on to explain that it’s important to him to have a meaningful interaction with each of his fans, because he knows what it’s like “to be on that side of the table,” but that the experience can be tiring after meeting hundreds of people in one day. But every once in a while, he wrote, he has an experience that is memorable for both the fans and for himself.
